COFIS, short for Coffee Shop Finder System, is a UI exploration created with Team 3 at Apple Developer Academy Surabaya. The concept focuses on an iOS app, with a companion watchOS experience, that helps college students find coffee shops that fit what they need for studying, working, or meeting friends.
The project responds to a familiar problem: coffee shop options are easy to find, but the details that actually matter are often scattered. COFIS brings those details into a clearer discovery flow, making it easier to compare nearby places by facilities, ambience, noise level, and location.
Design Focus
- Nearby discovery: A location-aware browsing experience for finding coffee shops close to the user.
- Search and filtering: Preference-based filters for needs such as Wi-Fi, electric plugs, ambience, and noise level.
- Coffee shop detail pages: Clean venue pages that surface practical information without forcing users through long lists or scattered reviews.
- Route access: Apple Maps integration for quick directions from both the iOS and watchOS concepts.
Explorations
The design also explored more personalized discovery patterns, including an AI assistant that could respond to prompts such as finding a quiet place with strong Wi-Fi or a comfortable spot for group discussion. Another explored feature was a 360-degree virtual tour, giving users a better sense of a coffee shop before deciding to visit.
COFIS remained a Figma-led product exploration rather than a launched product. The value of the work was in shaping a focused discovery experience around student needs, reducing decision fatigue, and presenting coffee shop information in a practical, easy-to-scan interface.
